’62 Corvette

I saw a ’62 Corvette on Green Bay Road this afternoon. It was in front of me crossing Washington, then I turned off to Potesta’s Pizza and it went on its way. I wished I had gotten a better look at it. I picked up the pizza, and as I was leaving, the Corvette pulled into the parking lot, and I got my wish, and for those five minutes, the world was a better place. Continue reading

Magic Is

I believe in magic. Almost everyone does, though most don’t acknowledge it, and some deny it vehemently. But as a matter of anthropological and psychological fact, we are hard-wired to draw emotional comfort from non-rational ritual, be those rituals religious or social or personal. Ritual works; for my current purposes, the metaphysics are not relevant. And the knowledge that non-rational ritual can have concrete results is something that you can use for practical purposes, and THAT is what I think of as magic. Continue reading
