Movies and other oddments:

“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” took a large number of first rate components and then threw them into a box and shook the box until something that resembled a finished product coalesced. There are great effects, good actors, good characters, and good dialog, but the whole is so much less than the sum of its parts. We don’t regret seeing it, but that isn’t really a recommendation.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp” is a sequel to a movie with a stupid premise that was none the less clever, frothy, and deft. This movie fails to be any of those things. It has some great moments, and again, we don’t regret seeing it, but that isn’t really a recommendation.

We had a raccoon in the living room on July 9. It was exciting. We got him into a five gallon bucket and (literally) tossed him out the door.

We are trying to get our roof replaced. It is surprisingly difficult, mostly due to pointless government interference. As far as I know, this is not a matter of corruption, but rather stupidity. This is kind of a shame; corrupt politicians can be bought, but stupid ones can only be tolerated.
