Two more movies:
“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” is beautiful but deeply flawed. The cast and the production values are wonderful, but the script is shallow and unsatisfying. A simple and indicative sample: Based on the content of this movie, one would be justified in assuming that “Nutcracker” was some kind of military rank. There are two toy soldiers in the film that are identified as nutcrackers and aren’t, and the character who is immediately identified as a “Nutcracker Soldier” is just a soldier. I don’t regret seeing this film, but I can’t recommend it.
“The Possession of Hannah Grace” has high production values and an engaging star, but the script is a train wreck. The monster has no motivation other than random killing, and follows no recognizable rules. The set is sufficiently interesting to allow a few “gotcha” moments, but in the end there wasn’t enough story to justify the time invested.
