Two movies in two days. One was AWFUL, the other deeply flawed but quite enjoyable.

There will be minor spoilers in the discussion of “Avengers: Infinity War” coming up. This is your last warning.

“Super Troopers 2” is a “comedy” full of failed jokes that is apparently narrow targeted to socially inept 14 years olds. I didn’t laugh once. If you enjoyed this movie, and are not actually 14 years old, you are emotionally stunted. If don’t feel that you are socially inept, and you enjoyed this movie, you’re wrong.

“Avengers: Infinity War” is pretty deeply flawed, but is a fair amount of fun anyway. Thanos is a stupid villain, and the infinity stones/ infinity guantlet is a stupid plot mechanism. There are the usual overblown and emotionally unbelievable fight sequences, made worse by frequent cases of characters punching WAY out of their weight class. On the other hand, most the character work is REALLY good, except for a couple of cases of character breaking moral cowardice. And the comice relief is consistently successful and pretty much brilliant. If you like this kind of thing, this is the kind of thing you will like. We did, mostly.

In other news, I am actually looking forward to a new “Star Wars” movie for the first time since 1983 (when Lucas broke my heart).
